Namaste from Sole Encounters Foundation in Kathmandu, Nepal. We are a small Nepal-based foundation with a growing dream: to support children, schools, health initiatives and communities where practical help can make a meaningful difference.
Led by CEO Ekta Bhandari, together with Prem Tamang and Prashant Nepal, our foundation is closely connected with Sole Encounters Adventures, a registered Nepal trekking and adventure company run by experienced local guides. We have supported communities in smaller ways before, and we now want to make this work more organised, transparent and continuous.
Our upcoming project focuses on Shree Setibhume Secondary School in Ramche, Kalika Rural Municipality-01, Rasuwa District, Bagmati Province, where more than 350 students study.
Our goal is not to complete one project and stop. We hope to continue supporting education, health, disaster recovery and community needs across rural Nepal.
We will contribute what we can ourselves, but we also need your help. A small contribution from you can become meaningful support for children and communities when we work together.
Our Dream for Sole Encounters Foundation
Sole Encounters Foundation grew from a simple dream: to give something meaningful back to Nepal. We have provided smaller forms of community support before, but we want to continue this work with greater purpose and consistency. Our long-term goal is to support education, health and genuine community needs, completing each project responsibly before gradually reaching more rural communities throughout Nepal.
Led by CEO Ekta Bhandari
Ekta Bhandari, CEO of Sole Encounters Foundation, leads our community work alongside Prem Tamang and Prashant Nepal. Ekta brings experience and a strong commitment to education, health and community support. Together, our team wants to listen before acting, understand what communities genuinely need and use available resources carefully rather than making promises that a small foundation cannot realistically fulfil.
Our Upcoming Project in Rasuwa, Nepal
Our upcoming education project takes us to Ramche, Kalika Rural Municipality-01, Rasuwa District, Bagmati Province. Rasuwa lies north of Kathmandu in Nepal's Himalayan region and includes mountain communities where geography can make access challenging. Following the devastating August 2026 disaster, families across the district have faced disruption, making practical support for education and community recovery particularly important.
Where Is Ramche, Rasuwa?
Ramche is a mountain community in Ward No. 1 of Kalika Rural Municipality, Rasuwa District. It lies at approximately 1,875 metres above sea level and around 14 kilometres before Dhunche, the district headquarters. Ramche is roughly 100 kilometres by road from Kathmandu, with the journey normally taking around four to five hours depending on weather, traffic and mountain road conditions.
Shree Setibhume Secondary School
Our project focuses on Shree Setibhume Secondary School in Ramche, a public community school providing education from Early Childhood Development through Grade 12. More than 350 children currently study at the school. We have communicated with the school leadership to understand its priorities so our assistance can focus on practical educational needs identified by the people working directly with the students.
Why We Chose Education
Education can create opportunities that continue throughout a child's life. For our Rasuwa project, we therefore chose to focus on practical school support. We do not want to arrive with items that were never requested. By communicating with the school first, we can understand its priorities and direct available resources towards educational materials that students and teachers can genuinely use.
What We Plan to Provide
Based on the school's confirmed priorities and available resources, our support may include school bags, notebooks, pens, pencils, learning resources, classroom materials and other essential educational supplies. Before purchasing anything, we intend to confirm requirements and quantities with the school. This practical approach helps us use available funding carefully while reaching as many students as our resources allow.
More Than 350 Children Need Support
More than 350 students attend Shree Setibhume Secondary School, and we would be delighted to support every child. As a small foundation, however, we must begin realistically. The number of students we can reach will depend on available resources and support. Every additional contribution can help provide more educational materials and allow our project to reach more children in the school community.
Helping Communities After the Rasuwa Disaster
The August 2026 disaster caused serious disruption across parts of Rasuwa and neighbouring areas. Mountain communities faced damage, displacement and interruptions to roads, services and education. Recovery takes time, particularly in rural Himalayan areas where access is already challenging. Our project cannot solve every difficulty, but we hope educational support can provide one practical contribution as children and families continue rebuilding their lives.
We Have Helped Before
Community support is not completely new to us. Before developing Sole Encounters Foundation further, we had already helped people and communities in smaller ways using our own resources and local connections. Those experiences encouraged us to create something more organised and sustainable. Now we hope to build on that beginning, complete meaningful projects and continue helping communities instead of treating this as a one-time activity.
Sole Encounters Adventures Is Always Here
Sole Encounters Adventures is a registered trekking and adventure company in Kathmandu run by experienced local guides and travel professionals. Our work takes us throughout Nepal's mountains and communities. We are proud to introduce travellers to our country, but our relationship with these places goes beyond tourism. Supporting local communities has become an important part of what we want our work to achieve.
Travel in Nepal and Give Something Back
When you travel with Sole Encounters Adventures, your journey can also contribute to something beyond your holiday. We plan to separate a small amount from eligible trips and contribute it towards Sole Encounters Foundation's community projects. As our travel business grows, we hope this approach can provide continuing support for education, health and other carefully selected community needs throughout Nepal.
Your Small Help Can Mean a Lot
We will contribute our own time, effort, local knowledge and available resources, but we also need your help. You do not need to make a large contribution to make a difference. When many people offer a little support, together it can provide school materials, reach more students and give our small foundation the ability to complete more meaningful projects.
Working Transparently and Responsibly
Trust is important when someone chooses to support our foundation. For the Ramche project, we intend to confirm requirements with the school, purchase agreed materials and coordinate their delivery. We also plan to share appropriate photographs and project updates. Our supporters should be able to understand what was provided, where their contribution went and approximately how many students benefited from the project.
We Will Continue Working
The Ramche school project is part of a much longer journey. We want Sole Encounters Foundation to continue working with communities rather than appearing only after a disaster. Our future goals include education, health, disaster recovery and practical support in rural Nepal. We will start with projects we can manage responsibly, learn from each experience and gradually increase our ability to help.
One School Is a Meaningful Beginning
We know one project cannot solve every challenge facing rural Nepal. But meaningful work has to begin somewhere. For us, one beginning is Shree Setibhume Secondary School in Ramche, Rasuwa. If we can support its students responsibly, complete the project transparently and learn from the experience, we will have created a stronger foundation for the communities and projects that follow.
Help Us Fulfil Our Dream
Sole Encounters Foundation began with a dream, and we are now working to turn that dream into action. With Ekta Bhandari, Prem Tamang, Prashant Nepal, Sole Encounters Adventures, our supporters and local communities working together, we hope to build something lasting. Your support, however small, can help us reach more children and continue this work across Nepal.
Thank You From Nepal
To everyone who travels with us, supports our foundation, contributes to a project or simply shares our work, dhanyabad. Thank you from Nepal. Your trust encourages us to keep moving forward. We hope that, step by step, Sole Encounters Foundation can turn a small beginning into continuous, responsible community work that benefits children, schools and families throughout rural Nepal.
