Upcoming Projects Of Sole Encounters Foundation

At Sole Encounters Foundation, We Are Committed To Transforming Tourism Into A Force For Positive Change Across Nepal. Our Upcoming Projects Focus On The Wellbeing Of Communities, The Protection Of Natural Landscapes, And Opportunities For Travelers To Give Back Meaningfully.

1. Clean Trails, Healthy Himalayas
Tourism In Nepal Is Growing, But With It Comes The Challenge Of Waste Management. This Project Partners With Municipalities, Local Lodges, And Youth Clubs To Reduce Plastic Pollution Along Trekking And Cultural Tourism Routes. We Will Organize Regular Trail And Village Clean-up Campaigns, Introduce Segregation Systems, And Create Awareness Among Travelers About Responsible Disposal. A QR-based Micro-donation System At Lodges Will Generate Ongoing Funds To Sustain Operations And Ensure Trails Remain Clean And Welcoming For All.

2. Supporting Nepal’s Tourism Workforce
Porters And Guides Form The Backbone Of Nepal’s Tourism, Yet Many Lack Access To Basic Safety Nets. Through This Project, We Will Provide Insurance Top-ups For Medical Emergencies, Deliver First-aid And Safety Training, And Set Up Community Gear Libraries So Essential Items Like Boots, Jackets, And Emergency Equipment Are Always Available. By Investing In The Wellbeing Of Guides And Porters, We Are Directly Supporting The Individuals Who Carry Nepal’s Tourism Forward.

3. Clean Water And Sanitation For Schools (WASH)
Many Villages Along Tourism Corridors Still Struggle With Access To Clean Drinking Water And Adequate Sanitation. This Project Will Install And Maintain Water Purification Systems And Sanitation Facilities In Schools, Ensuring Students Stay Healthy And Able To Continue Their Education. Training Local Caretakers And School Committees Will Help Maintain Facilities Over The Long Term, While Community Awareness Campaigns Will Promote Hygiene Practices That Benefit Both Residents And Visiting Travelers.

4. Plant A Tree, Offset Your Travel
Tourism Has An Environmental Footprint, But It Can Also Be A Solution. Through This Reforestation And Carbon Offset Initiative, We Will Plant Trees In Degraded Areas Near Trekking And Cultural Sites To Prevent Soil Erosion, Restore Biodiversity, And Capture Carbon. For Every Trip, Travelers Will Have The Option To Offset Their Journey By Contributing To Reforestation. Lodges And Communities Will Also Be Engaged In Carbon Literacy Training To Make Tourism More Climate-friendly At Every Level.

5. Empowering Women In Tourism
Despite Nepal’s Rich Tradition Of Women Contributing To Communities, Female Participation In Guiding And Tourism Roles Remains Low. This Program Will Offer Scholarships For Training Courses, Mentorship Opportunities With Experienced Guides, And Job Placement Support To Help Women Build Careers In The Sector. By Breaking Down Barriers And Creating Pathways To Leadership, We Aim To Ensure Women Benefit Equally From Tourism And Help Shape Its Future In Nepal.

6. Mountain Health Days
Remote Mountain Communities Often Welcome Travelers But Lack Access To Basic Health Services. Through Partnerships With Regional Hospitals And Health Institutions, We Will Organize Mobile Outreach Camps Providing Vision Checks, Dental Care, First-aid Training, And Preventive Health Education. These Health Days Will Improve The Wellbeing Of Communities While Also Creating Stronger Connections Between Visitors And Hosts.

Together, These Projects Reflect Our Mission: To Use Tourism As A Tool For Sustainable Development, Carbon Offset, And Community Empowerment In Nepal’s Mountain And Cultural Regions.
